The Starting Line!

For some riders it has been upwards of four years of planning, preparation and perseverance that has got them to this point. This point being the start of the GlobeBusters Trans Americas 2011 Expedition from Prudhoe Bay to Ushuaia. Prudhoe and Ushuaia have respectively the most northerly and most southerly roads in the Americas and we will ride both of them. This will be the fourth time we have run this ride and we are still remain the only company to offer the true top to bottom ride.

We have 14 riders and two pillions undertaking the complete expedition and we will be joined by other riders in Tucson and Bogota down the road. It is an eclectic group for 2011. American, Canadian, Italian, Hungarian, Australian, Dutch, Scots, Irish and a few English as well. While there is a wide variety of nationalities every-one has chosen to ride a BMW for 2011.

This is an epic ride undertaken to experience the roads, the countries and many cultures of the Americas, not a madcap dash. Make no mistake there will be plenty of challenges along the way. Dirt roads, harsh weather, border crossings and different cultures are just some of the things to look forward to. However with two preparation meetings, two days Off Road Skills Course with Simon Pavey, one days Rider Training with our sister company BMW Rider Training and a First Bike on Scene First Aid Course the riders are well prepared.

So with the bikes already flown into Anchorage and the support team flying in a few days, the 2011 Trans Am is nearly upon us. We hope that you will follow the riders and the highs and lows through this blog which we will update weekly throughout the 19 weeks on the road.
